Big Rigs at The Woods Camping Resort

Yes - We can handle your equipment.

Thank you for your interest in bringing your Big Rig RV to The Woods Camping Resort.  We understand there are factors which make traveling with a large RV more challenging and we have taken that into consideration when we designed our resort.

Campsites that are Big Rig Friendly

The following sites are the best for Big Rigs.  All the sites listed have full amenities of Water/Sewer/Cable TV/Electric (15/30/50 amps)/picnic table/fire ring.

  • Site 81 (50’ deep) This site was designed with big rigs in mind.  A wide site with concrete pad.  Some tree cover.  Angled perfectly for smooth backing in.
  • Sites 82-89 (50’ deep) Similar to site 81above but open sky ability to catch a satellite signal.
  • Sites 100, 101, 135 & 136 (60’ deep) Pull thru sites with easy in/out accessibility.
  • Sites 102, 103 (60’ deep) Pull thru sites but additional leveling may be necessary due to the contour of the terraign.
  • Sites 169-171 (35’ deep) Easy access with a wide road but take note of the max depth of these sites.  These sites have open sky ability to catch a satellite signal.
  • Sites 32, 59 (40’ deep) These sites have narrow roads so additional care in maneuvering will be necessary
  • Site 31 (60’ deep) Pull thru site but the entrance & exit are narrow and can be difficult to maneuver if adjacent sites are occupied.

Traveling to The Woods Camping Resort

Even though The Woods is in a rural area, the majority of roads leading to camp are modern and well kept.  The roads closest to the resort do not have shoulders but are wide enough that nobody will have to pull off to let you pass.  The following are tips for Big Rig operators when choosing a route to get to The Woods:

From the South

From Philadelphia, South Jersey, Delaware, Baltimore, DC  Those guests traveling from the South will likely be traveling on 476 (PA Turnpike) north.  For you, the only precautions you need to take are within the last mile.  Google advises you to use our original entrance (Vaughn Acres Lane) but instead, please use our newer entrance (Woods Way).  Use Pine Run to Owl Creek to Hemlock to Forest to Woods Way.  See Map B

 From the North

From Scranton/Wilkes Barre  Those guests traveling from the North will likely use 476 (PA Turnpike) south.  For you, the precautions you need to take are if your GPS advises you to use the EZ-Pass Only Exit 87 onto Route 903.  You can exit here only if you have EZ-Pass, but we don’t advise big rigs to do that due to a steep and windy road as part of this route (Maury Road).  Instead, stay on the turnpike until the next exit (74).  Then follow normal directions until you get within the last mile.  Google advises you to use our original entrance (Vaughn Acres Lane) but instead, please use our newer entrance (Woods Way).  From 209, use Harrity to Pohopoco, to Pine Run, to Owl Creek to Hemlock to Forest to Woods Way.  See Map A

From the East

From North Jersey, NYC on Route 80  Those guests traveling through the Delaware Water Gap on Route 80 will have no issues other than when Route 209 South reduces to 2 lanes and some slower traffic may result.  To avoid these slower roads and stick with mostly highway driving, do not exit Route 80 at Route 209/Route 33 South.  Instead, stay on Route 80 until it intersects with 476 (PA Turnpike).  Continue with directions “From the North” above.

If you decide to stick with Route 209 South to save miles driven, please take note that GPS will direct you to our original entrance (Vaughn Acres Lane) but instead, please use our newer entrance (Woods Way).  The fastest way is to pass by Vaughn Acres Lane and turn right onto Hemlock St.  But we do not recommend that turn onto Hemlock for big rigs.  It’s more than a 90 degree turn, and you will have to turn into the opposing traffic lane which is a blind spot for oncoming traffic plus it’s a turn onto an immediate upslope.  Instead, stay on Beltzville Drive when GPS advises you to turn onto Station St.  Take Beltzville Drive to Pine Run to Owl Creek to Hemlock to Forest to Woods Way.  See Map C

From Central Jersey, NYC on Route 78
Those guests traveling on Route 78 will take the PA Turnpike (476 North) to exit 74.  The only precautions you need to take are within the last mile.  Google advises you to use our original entrance (Vaughn Acres Lane) but instead, please use our newer entrance (Woods Way).  Use Pine Run to Owl Creek to Hemlock to Forest to Woods Way.  See Map B

From the West

From Harrisburg on Route 78  Those guests traveling from Harrisburg/Lancaster on Route 78 will take the PA Turnpike (476 North) to exit 74.  The only precautions you need to take are within the last mile.  Google advises you to use our original entrance (Vaughn Acres Lane) but instead, please use our newer entrance (Woods Way).  Use Pine Run to Owl Creek to Hemlock to Forest to Woods Way.  See Map B

From Pittsburgh, State College, Bloomsburg on Route 80
Those guests traveling Route 80 East will take the PA Turnpike (476 South)   Continue with directions “From the North” above.
